About my teaching
I truly value the teaching and mentorship and implement these training skills throughout my lab and professional life in various ways. When it comes to teaching, I enjoy helping students fit their existing theories and experiences with (potentially) new, foundational knowledge -- with the hope that this integration fosters new innovations, new ideas, and new science. I firmly believe that our best science and our best education requires analysis of new perspectives and theories (i.e., out of ones' current frame of reference), requiring strong critical and creative thinking skills. Additionally, I strive to amplify diverse perspectives and theories that address and account for psychological phenomenon for all humans, regardless of our individual differences including race/ethnicity, class, environment, gender/sex, and education. To this extent, in the classroom and training environments, I aim to provide an environment to facilitate integration of knowledge sources, opportunities to engage in diverse discussions (verbal and written), and the application of these conversations in practice.
