The BioGENE Study:
GRIN2B Participants page

In 2019, the GRIN2B Foundation awarded Dr. Caitlin Hudac a research grant. We have been using this funding to support data collection of EEG biomarkers for GRIN2B. We recently collected data on a Fall 2021 "research roadtrip" with over 25 families! Other upcoming opportunities listed below.
What to expect during a BioGENE research visit:
  • We will review consent forms and let you ask questions. We will help the participant get comfortable in the room.
  • We will measure the participant's head and soak an EEG net for ~5-10 minutes. It only takes a few seconds to put on the net and make a few adjustments. Starting in August 2022, we will also be recording heart rate by placing stickers on the participant's chest.
  • The participant will be able to watch our videos or can watch their own tablet or movies on mute. We will play different sounds and videos for ~20-30 minutes.
  • We will give parents/caregivers a packet of surveys or questionnaires to complete. These can also be filled out before or after the session.

Upcoming research participation opportunities

What to expect? The B-RAD Lab (directed by Dr. Caitlin Hudac) will be on-site from Thursday until Sunday. Research will be completed in a hotel room and includes parent surveys (can be completed online) and an EEG session for the participant with a GRIN2B mutation. The EEG is expected to take no more than 30 minutes once the EEG net is on (~5-10 minutes to prep). Contact us if you are interested but none of these slots work for you.

Email Dr. Hudac ([email protected]) if there is a slot you'd like to take!

GRIN2B Warrior video!

Draft 1! Follow up video to come in August with more GRIN2B warriors!

Upcoming research opportunities

  • Dr. Hudac will be at the 5th Annual European GRIN Conference in Barcelona October 8-9, 2023. We are not sure if we will be collecting BioGENE data (more info coming soon!), but do say hi if you see Dr. Hudac! More details:

  • We are hoping to re-establish in-home research testing by early 2024 -- contact us below if you are interested in participating (or RE-participating!).

Recent research opportunities

The B-RAD Lab was in Chicago, IL for the GRIN2B Family Weekend, July 15-16 2022!
