Teen Brain Decision (TBD) Study

Neon green and purple brain
The Teen Brain Decisions Study is no longer recruiting participants.  If you are 12 to 17 years old, check out our Social Connection and Well-Being Study!

Teens who participated in this study answered survey questions, watched videos, looked at pictures, and played computer games while we measured brain and heart activity. We are currently analyzing the data and will provide updates on our findings soon! The Teen Brain Decision Study will help us understand how teens make decisions about other people.

HOW DO WE MEASURE BRAIN ACTIVITY?

We use a wet cap called electroencephalography (EEG). This cap has small sponges and wires that we soak in warm water. The cap lets us see brain waves that look like this:

HOW DO WE MEASURE HEART ACTIVITY?

We use small sticky pads called electrocardiography (ECG) to measure your heart beat. We have you place them on your skin.

Who is leading this study?

Woman with long dark hair and tan skin complexion is smiling.
